What to expect

East Bali feels like a different island: quieter roads, rice fields climbing toward the volcano, and royal water gardens built by the old kings of Karangasem. This day goes all the way to the far end of the island first, then works its way back toward the south coast, so there is no backtracking and every stop feels like the next chapter.

Lempuyang Temple, the Gate of Heaven. Leave early and arrive while the morning light is soft. A short shuttle climbs to the temple courtyard, where two tall carved gates frame Mount Agung like a painting. Join the photo line, then take a quiet moment at one of Bali's oldest and most sacred temples.

Tirta Gangga Water Palace. Just down the hill, step from stone to stone across ponds full of colourful koi, past fountains, statues and neat tropical gardens. The holy spring here has fed the royal pools for generations.

Lunch and Taman Ujung Water Palace. After an Indonesian lunch, visit Taman Ujung, a grand park of wide ponds, white bridges and elegant pavilions near the sea. It is calm, spacious and perfect for an easy stroll.

Virgin Beach. End the day on a curve of soft white sand backed by coconut palms, with clear blue water for a swim and simple beach cafes for a cold drink. Then relax in the car as your driver takes you back to your hotel.
